Umbrella Cover Museum
Surprisingly delightful museum dedicated to celebrating the mundane. Summers only. Collection of umbrella sleeves that actually has diverse exhibits. Holder of the Guinness World Record
A quirky museum of umbrella sleeves on Peaks Island, Maine. A twenty-minute ferry ride from Portland takes you to a place that "Celebrates the mundane everyday." Hundreds of umbrella cases hang from the walls and ceiling, and there's always a story behind the cover. Museum has been on NPR, BBC Radio, The Weather Channel. A great day trip from Portland. Bike rental nearby. Director, Nancy 3. Hoffman, gives a wicked good tour, and plays the accordion for the theme song at the end. Donations requested.
