Hike the western Maine mountains, and stay trailside at a backcountry eco-lodge.
Maine Huts & Trails provides unparalleled access to some of the most pristine natural places in the world, and whether you’re interested in a week-long hiking expedition or a scenic day hike, you'll find a trail that fits. The huts are connected by more than 80 miles of trails of mild to moderate difficulty; the distance between each hut is approximately twelve miles, about a day’s hike. Some hikers choose to increase their mileage by exploring the Bigelow Preserve or venturing onto the Appalachian Trail, which crosses the hut-to-hut trail.

- Hours The huts and trails are open year-round, and reservations are required for overnight lodging. During full-service season (mid-December through late March and late June through late October), food and drinks, including beer and wine, are available for purchase for day visitors. Overnight lodging includes three meals, with optional gear shuttles. The huts are fully staffed. During self-service season (late October through mid-December and late March through late June), the huts are open but minimally staffed, and overnight guests must pack-in and pack-out all their own food and gear.
