Wells Reserve at Laudholm
Open every day and easy to access, it's a place to discover.
The Wells Reserve is 2,250 acres of protected land, a restored saltwater farm called Laudholm, and a natural haven. And it is open for the public to enjoy every day.
Walk our network of trails to enjoy the beauty of a coastal ecosystem. Explore grasslands, freshwater wetlands, salt marshes, and one of the last undeveloped sand beaches in Maine. Many trails cover a variety of habitats and all offer rich opportunities for discovery.
Explore on your own or join one of many naturalist-led walks or kayak tours. Our calendar lists more than 100 programs each year.
The Wells Reserve is popular with young families, active birders, and artists and photographers.
Established in 1984 and dedicated in 1986, the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve owes its existence to Laudholm Trust, the member-supported Maine nonprofit that led the effort to protect the site and continues to provide vital assistance.
