Winkle Cottage
Winkle Cottage offers beautiful views of Cobscook Bay with right-of-way access to the bay for beach combing or clamming. Close to Historic Eastport with its many festivals, shops and ferries to nearby Campobello Island. Off the beaten path on a dirt road
**Winkle Cottage** has been providing guests with luxury acccomodations for the past 10 summers. We have excellent reviews, some of which are posted here, and many returning guests. The cottage offers spectacular views of Cobscook Bay. The area is very peaceful and private.
The cottage itself is on the second floor. The 600 sq.ft. living space consists of an open concept kitchen, dining and living area with a door to a large deck with Adirondak chairs overlooking the bay. The queen size bedroom and large bath are quite comfortable and provide plenty of closet space. The cottage is decorated with a nautical flair. A gas fireplace is available seasonal only. Occassionally, I have vegetables or herbs from my garden to share and always provide some sort of "goodie" for my guests when they arrive.
Guests are required to climb 10 stairs to access. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage or anywhere on the premises. Your hosts are also living on the 7.5 acre parcel and are available should the guests have questions about the beautiful area or need assistance. We greet you when you arrive and say "safe travels" when you leave. Other than that, you are on your own!
Winkle is furnished for your comfort and convenience. We cater to visitors from afar by providing basic nessisities, towels, linens, soaps, basic kitchen supplies, etc.
You will be asked to sign a rental agreement when you reserve your week. We prefer renting by the week but will occassionally consider other arrangements. Your rental agreement will spell out the terms for payment. This is a keyless entry rental and you will be provided with your code as your stay approaches.
The view from the deck of the bay is quite spectacular, especially with a full moon, and you can see Lubec and the International Bridge (the entrance to Campobello, Canada and Roosevelts summer home)(3 miles by sea)
This vacation cottage is close to Eastport, Machias and Canada and their festivals, ferries, etc. A ferry runs from Eastport to Lubec several times a day in season. A day trip to Acadia and mid-coast is easily done as well as to St. Andrews in Canada. Eastport has whale watches everyday. Eastport Windjammers
