Kennebunkport is one of the best Christmas towns in the world, and this year’s Christmas Prelude celebrates its 40th anniversary December 2-12 with some old favorites as well as new activities to mark the milestone of 40 years of holiday festiveness.
The schedule is jam packed with holiday fun, including the Bavarian Christmas Market at the studios on Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk, boat and trolley rides, a pooch parade and the Cape Porpoise Lobster Trap Tree Lighting.
Be sure to take time to admire the merry holiday decorations in town and pick up gifts at the unique shops and galleries. There are a variety of dining options in the area, from coffee shops to acclaimed restaurants. The event website lists all that are open during Prelude. Make more than just a day of it and stay at one of the comfortable hotels or cozy inns and bed and breakfasts. Our tip is to book early, as accommodations fill up quickly during this special time.
