About the Maine Oyster Trail
Seafood lovers, rejoice. There’s a new way to enjoy Maine oysters, and it’s on the Maine Oyster Trail. Whether you want to shuck, taste, learn from the experts or just grab and go, there’s no better way to appreciate the fresh reward of Maine oysters. Speaking of rewards — as if briny and buttery oysters aren’t rewarding enough — you’ll be rewarded with nautical swag for your participation on the Maine Oyster Trail.
Originally launched in 2017, the 2021 trail has been revamped to incorporate new farms, emerging market and tourism opportunities, and an interactive, virtual guide.
How It Works
The Maine Oyster Trail is an interactive guide that allows you to pick your desired oyster experience and explore the different coastal regions of Maine, all while earning rewards. The trail’s interactive map gives you information about each coastal region’s oyster offerings, from The Maine Beaches to DownEast and Acadia. The trip planner tool allows you to customize your own trail, filtering the type of oyster experience you are looking for and where you would like to go. As you travel the trail, you have the option to use your Maine Oyster Passport to check in at participating businesses, keep track of your visits and earn rewards. The more places you check in, the sweeter the rewards!
