Featured Maine Maker: Erica Moody Fine Metal Work

About

A professional metal fabricator by trade for nearly three decades, Erica Moody’s initial focus was working on larger scale projects for home furnishings and architecture. With a passion for solving structural challenges through her carefully considered, high-quality metalwork, she values the time and thought that goes into this unique (and increasingly rare) craft.

Though she still offers some of these larger projects through custom commissions, she has recently focused on utilizing her beautifully minimalistic, yet functional design to create serving ware and fine tools. Truly heirloom pieces, they are created in Erica’s home-based barn studio in mid-coast Maine, primarily featuring a pairing of brass, copper, stainless, or steel, complemented by the occasional wood accent. Using old analog industrial machines in her work, Erica’s designs are an ode to the history of making – stylistically unfussy, with primitive shapes and features – but expertly crafted for years to come.

Her work has been recognized by many publications, including Saveur, Bon Appétit, Metalsmith, Bake from Scratch, Metalsmith Magazine, Zest, New York Magazine, The Cut, Maine Home + Design, and Décor Maine. Erica Moody Fine Metal Work has also been featured by brands Kitchenaid and Duluth Trading Company.
