Snow Tubing
Oh, what fun it is to ride...on a snow tube down a snow-covered hill! Kids and kids at heart will love the thrill of snow tubing, and the best place for that kind of downhill fun is at a tubing park, where the lanes have been cleared of trees and other obstacles.
Head to the Snow Park at Seacoast Adventure in Windham for the ultimate tubing experience. The park is open on weekends, holidays and school vacation weeks. When you work up an appetite from being out in the crisp fresh air, the Deck House Tavern is open for lunch and dinner with a pub-style menu of brick oven pizza, burgers and more.
Many of Maine’s ski resorts and ski areas have tubing, some with extended hours into the evening. In Auburn, the Lost Valley Ski Area and Black Mountain Ski Resort in Rumford all offer tubing along with skiing and riding.
In the northern Maine town of Mars Hill, Bigrock Mountain Ski Area has an 800-foot-long tubing park. Call ahead for reservations. And just west of Bangor, Hermon Mountain offers three-hour passes for fast fun.
Tip: Always call ahead or check individual websites, because some locations have minimum height requirements.
